The tactical market includes not only law enforcement and the military, but also civilian self-defense and shooting enthusiasts in general.
When STI changed its name to Staccato, they not only changed the company name but also their offerings.
These 2011 models, including the Staccato P, have been tested by law enforcement agencies, including the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and US Marshals.

They were approved for service use, and the gun was adopted by the marshals who were advancing. This reception gave Staccato a good launch pad to capture a larger share of the high-end tactical rifle market.
The Staccato P is a service-sized rifle and was the brand's flagship model when it came to service use. They also offer the Staccato C2, a slightly smaller version designed primarily for concealed carry.
As we mentioned earlier in this review, the Staccato P is primarily designed for work use. Still, it's a gun that works for multiple roles.
It can be fired as a competition pistol, concealed on your person, or used as an OWB carry option. For a big gun, the P is very versatile.

If you decide to conceal carry this gun, you may want to remove the magazine well or remove it altogether. This will greatly affect the concealment of the firearm.
It also has the ability to accept long magazines with a capacity of 20 rounds or even larger.
There are 2011 magazine options with different lengths and capacities. You can buy these magazines directly from Staccato, or you can get a higher quality magazine through a company called MBX.
MBX offers a tactical style follower that closes the slide on the last round, or a competition style that doesn't.

Many use Staccato mags because they tend to perform better and cost only half as much as their MBX counterparts.
One thing you'll notice in this Staccato P review is that the gun has a large magazine with a two-piece design.
Another part is the magwell. This design is compact and makes loading the magazine into the gun very easy.
If you only use the well that keeps the magwell out of the gun. You still get the good stuff from the rear and the firearms, as well as the side-to-side rotation.

While you can make this gun smaller by adjusting it for concealed carry, you'll still have a magwell for very easy use.
This pistol, as we mentioned above, is a 2011 design. That means it uses a 1911 slide and has a proprietary frame that attaches to the slide grip module.
You can replace this with metal units made by aftermarket manufacturers. They can be manufactured in materials such as titanium, aluminum and steel. The material determines the weight and durability.
It has several options and you can easily change the factory settings. If you want to conceal your gun, there are Staccato blocks designed to hold short magazines.

The 2011 Staccato grip module does not have removable front or back straps. This design has the same cocktail safety as the 1911.
It is a well-designed commercial security system. Most of the 1911s I've worked with over the years either had trouble reliably breaking the safety mechanism or the edges and edges were a bit sharp.
I had no problems with Staccato 2011; it is in good shape and feels good in the hand.
They are not perfect. I've worked with guns like Dan Wesson and Nighthawks that seem to blend in a bit better.

These guns are usually $2,000,000 more expensive than the Staccato P setups. So there is no apples to apples comparison.
It has what appears to be a small number of people attached to the front and back straps of the gun.
Each side also has a Texas star on the lower quarter of the connection. I like this touch.
It won't hurt your skin when you carry this concealed weapon. If you roll a high round number, it won't tear your hands off.

That means it's still aggressive, won't slip in your hand, even when your hands are sweaty and wet.
The overall feel of the 2011 Staccato is that it's a great weapon. It's definitely a weapon in the hand, and if you're a smaller gunner, I can see how it could be.
That said, due to its ergonomics, even a small-handed shooter will be able to reach all of the controls on this pistol except for the slide stop and magazine release.
If they were worried about engaging the safety and pulling the trigger, I don't think they would have a problem.

From the factory, the Staccato P comes with two sight configurations: you can get it with a dovetail rear sight and a fiber optic front sight, or you can get the rifle with the DPO model, which is what I have.
The rifle came from the factory with a back plate. It has black front and rear optical sights. These sights were well received at the gun.
I was able to shoot them very well at the same distance with the stock iron sights, but I wish Staccato had gone with a slightly thinner front optic on this rifle.
If I were to keep the gun in an iron sight configuration, I would change the iron sight to a Dawson Precision .115 unit.

If you have a Staccato P DPO, Staccato has a variety of plate offerings, so it won't be difficult to find a red dot to fit this rifle.
You can use RMR Holosun, RMRcc Holosun 509T - there are many scopes that fit this gun. You can even install an Aimpoint ACRO.
I used one of these because it's below the Staccato Factory offerings, but I don't know if I'll use it again. Mine went soft after 200 rounds, maybe 500 dry fires. I got an email from them offering to upgrade the optic for less than half the price of the old version.
Personally, this drives me crazy because I don't think customers should be charged for refunds if they feel the need to offer an upgrade. In their defense, I did not contact them after I released mine.

If I had it to do over again, I'd probably get the Dawson mounting system and go for it.
Not a big deal as I would have preferred a front view. I haven't been a fan of scope optics since I tried the Trijicon RMR.
If you're a fan of red dots and want to own one in 2011, the Staccato P is a great choice. Red Dot's number of options puts it above most other offerings on the market.

As we mentioned before, this gun has a rear stabilizer and is very ergonomic. There isn't much to say about it, but we can dig into the ambidextrous thumb safety this pistol offers.
The 2011 Staccato ambidextrous safety is well designed and your standard 1911 safety. It really has no sharp edges and just about fits both ways.
The clubs themselves are of similar width, although the left side is a bit safer. It is the same width, but has been widened slightly to account for the plunger mounted on the side of the gun.
It's easy to put your thumb under and rotate it back, so the gun is safe again. I think Staccato did a great job with this gun for the price.

This gun is expensive and many would argue that the safety should be absolutely perfect. It's not as good as a pistol like the Nighthawk or Dan Wesson I mentioned earlier, though
