10-8 Glock Sights - Let's take a minute to discuss my lifeline - factory gun sights. i hate them It doesn't matter what the manufacturer is, really. Realistically, you end up with one of two options: 1) some kind of white dot sight, to include Glock's gourd/basket configuration, or 2) some kind of bright 3-dot sight. As a Glock shooter, I don't like either option, so I won't get a more expensive gun overnight. I usually buy the cheaper plastic rifle and then use the savings to give it a nice set of shopping sites. I'm always open to new designs, but right now my favorite looks are exercise 10-8.

I've had 8-10 sights on my Glock for six years, and I'd like to point out a few things I really like about them: First, their sights are a combination of the rear black sight and a dot. before. Second, I see the .140" rear with a wide U slot, compared to their .125" wide front, to leave a good balance between speed and gun sales. 10-8 sells a wider rear sight on their website, but I've used the .140" and .156" rear sights, and I believe the .156" (for me) in those times when you want good and accurate is another problem I've had With other "fast" sights with wide rear slots. The rear sight is flat. Good for one-handed manipulation, and has an extension to reduce glare.

Third, it gives you the choice between tritium (https:///10-8-glock-front-sight-tritium-215-height-125-width/) or fiber optic (https:/// 10-8-glock -front-sight-fiber-optic-215-height-125-width/) for your front sight. I still run tritium sights on my personal rifle. However, I researched observations as the 10 years were about to expire. My research tells me that years of using competitive (and other) formats will tell the main advantages of tritium-based fibers. Advantages include easy field switching, low cost and good brightness. Another consideration when choosing between tritium and fiber optics is the use of handheld lights. A high-contrast lamp can clear the tritium spot, but fiber optics only use that light. Since my current tritium sights are starting to darken, if I can get a new sight fixed before then, I'll probably switch to fiber optics. The 10-8 rear action is CNC machined from 4140 bar wood that has been heat treated and nitrocarburizing finished in a black QPQ salt bath (aka Melonite, similar to the Glock film). All 10-8 sights are U-slotted for speed, intuitive alignment, and dots like the tritium and fiber front sights. The rear screen is black and has a resolution of 40 lpi to reduce glare in different lighting conditions.
The QPQ/Melonite solution is more complex than a simple steel file. It should be filed with a diamond or polishing file (see Brownells.com), as the files will always slide off the surface.
